Safety signs:
More to come but we'll try not to oversaturate.
Truck entry through the roller door:
Getting the auto close function going will help with getting the 2nd mover out of the truck. This was mixed last week with quite a few passengers staying in the cab during parking.
This will occasionally create "traffic jams" of our vehicles on Nelson St. We will need to add to training about what to do in this situation. This is pretty obvious (indicate, pull over, and check mirrors often) and most did a great job last week but Nelson St notorious for speeding and C.U.B. shenanigans. The truck entering needs to come up close to the door while their passenger goes in and opens the roller door. Line marking may help with this.
Parking within the depot:
Morning warden has been useful but afternoon warden is also required. Especially if we're changing our parking plans. This role could be combined with the tub re-filling or cleaning. Will absolutely require training and the right candidates.
Walkway:
Walkway use has been poor. A large part of this is due to the vehicles being spaced inconsistently. This would be improved with a warden and full line marking. (We could still use the temporary tape to achieve our thick lines, it comes in v. wide gauges).
Barriers to impede driveway use a must.
Perhaps go back to "1A, 1B, 2A, 2B..." parking to encourage use. In the "1A, 2A, 3A, 4A..." format the trucks that are already parked impede the direct route to the walkway.
Another pro to this approach is that the end parks can be filled earlier freeing up the exit for office parking.
Con is it makes the actual parking more difficult.
Driver training re: parking.
3 main points to make. Simple messaging to get across during induction as well as in video form for other staff.
Stay left in the driveway - visual cue is the speed bumps.
Turn in when the driver is in line with the far yellow marker of the bay you're parking in - VC is the far yellow line of the bay you're parking in. The bollard also lines up.
Exiting. Hard lock when the bollards are in line on the passenger side - VC the bollards lining up.
Upstairs:
Bannister falls apart and has some sharp edges. RPL have been informed and are sourcing a solution.
BBQ area diagonal beam - table to be placed underneath and perhaps decorated with plants or something for visibility.
Gym layout:
Not ideal atm with the builders in but when panelling is complete we'll be able to tidy up and improve the layout of the undercroft area.
Propose moving the gym to the wall where the bike hooks are currently to make a simpler pathway from keys and tubs to vehicles. Will still have to get tall interviewees to do their lift outside but worth the extra effort for these to simplify the path for staff.
Front door:
Looking at options to make it easier to get bikes through the main entrance.
"5 second magnet" compromise. Can we install a magnet that holds the door open for 5-10 seconds?
Look into "Low energy" door opening options which just require a soft touch on the door before it opens and closes itself.
Not depot:
Ramps: Please stop slamming them home under the truck. This causes cracking at the top, deforms the ramp hooks which makes them wobble when in use and in turn deforms the truck hooks causing them to fail. Difficult to repair. Please find another way to put a satisfying end to the job. Are high fives back in fashion?
