Depot Dawg Policy
What and Why is a Depot Dawg?
Got yourself an oddly even start time like a 7.00am or 7.30am? Chances are you’ve been assigned to the role of “Depot Dawg”.
But why?!
Man With A Van assigns a small number of movers each day to the role of “Depot Dawg”. This is to help cover those staff who call in sick on the morning of work so we can meet our customers’ bookings on time, every time.
When you’re rostered on to this shift, the morning manager will do their best to deploy you on a job as quickly as possible. While you wait for deployment however, there are a number of tasks you’re expected to do once signed on and working.
What is my role as the depot dawg?
Arrive at depot
Sign on
See that you’ve been assigned to the vehicle called “Depot”
See Morning manager
Scan QR Code next to morning manager’s desk or next to sign on computer, or are told by the morning manager “I’ve got a job for you”
Scan QR code and start doing jobs
Once those jobs are complete, see the morning manager for more tasks.
When do I get paid from?
You get paid from the time you are SMS’d to start work, or the time you swipe on, whichever is later.
When would I expect NOT to be paid?
If you arrive at work and, following a discussion with the morning manager, decide you would not like to work and would prefer to do something else (get a coffee, eat breakfast, use the gym etc) instead, you should not expect to be paid for that time.
Thoughts:
There should be a “job” in the truck called “Depot”, so that you know what jobs you need to do
First job is called “Go and See a Manager and present for work”
There should be a list of at least 4 hours worth of work that is clear and not “go do something useful for 4 hours”
Big A4 QR code that says “You’re depot? Please scan for the list of tasks today”
Issues:
We need to provide clear instructions and tasks, clearly labeled equipment to do those tasks, an ability to mark down who has completed them and when

Needs more updating and kits made up for specific tasks.
