To mitigate these risks and ensure a safe working environment, MWAV has implemented a Safety Toed Footwear Policy. Risks of Not Wearing Safety Toed Footwear

2.1. Furniture moving involves heavy lifting, potential for dropped objects, and the risk of foot injuries from moving equipment and furniture. Not wearing safety toed footwear can lead to the following risks:

a. Crush injuries to the toes and feet.

b. Cuts, abrasions, or puncture wounds.

c. Sprains, strains, and other musculoskeletal injuries due to lack of proper support.

d. Increased risk of slipping and tripping accidents.

Mandatory Use of Safety Toed Footwear

3.1. All MWAV employees are required to wear safety toed footwear at all times while at work. This includes:

a. During work hours at the MWAV premises (with the exception of office staff).

b. While on moving assignments at client locations.

3.2. Safety toed footwear should meet the Australian Safety Standard (AS 2210.3) and be in good condition to provide adequate protection.

Non-Compliance Consequences

4.1. MWAV takes the use of safety toed footwear seriously. Non-compliance with this policy may result in the following consequences:

a. Verbal Warning from a supervisor or management.

b. Written Warning from a supervisor or management.

c. Shift Cancellation: Employees who arrive at work without wearing safety toed footwear may have their shift canceled, preventing them from working until they obtain the required footwear.

Tax Deductibility

5.1. It's important to note that safety toed footwear is tax deductible. Employees may be eligible to claim tax deductions for the purchase and maintenance of safety toed footwear as a legitimate work-related expense. Employees are encouraged to consult with a tax professional for guidance on tax deductions.

Reporting Non-Compliance

6.1. Employees are encouraged to report any instances of non-compliance with this policy to their immediate supervisor or the MWAV management team.
