MWAV makes bookings based upon staff availability.
Where staff are available and confirmed to work, but don’t attend a rostered shift or find appropriate cover, we cannot meet commitments around timeliness and reliability we’ve made to customers.
Customers moving house often require their job to be completed on the particular day they have booked in, due to settlements or end-of-lease.
They’ve also often taken the day off work to be in attendance during the move.
When one or more staff are absent from a shift they are rostered on for, this compromises our ability to serve our customers as required.
The additional workload from absent staff members falls on other movers, who may be required to work longer days as a result.
Man With A Van runs a weekly roster system. Staff are notified by text message - in advance of shifts being assigned - that they need to finalise their availability on the roster website.
After the deadline (specified in the reminder text), shifts are assigned to staff based on the days they have listed as available on their roster, and it is each staff member’s responsibility to either:
1. work the shift as assigned, or
2. find a replacement member of staff to work the shift.
Please notify the office as soon as possible if you’re not going to be able to attend a shift due to illness or injury. This is a separate issue, and covered in other policies.
This is beyond MWAVs control - you need to find a resolution, either by swapping your shift or making arrangements with your other employer.
Failure to attend a rostered shift without contacting the office by your start time will result in a written warning. Repeated failure may result in dismissal.
