Violence in the workplace involves incidents in which a person is abused, threatened or assaulted at work by a customer, member of the public or an employee/manager of Man With a Van.
Mover Responsibilities:
Immediately inform management of any behaviours of concern
Communicate with your coworker about any potential threat of safety you might have witnessed or assessed
Consult the Report Unsafe Work Environment policy
How to Lessen/Manage the Risks:
Don't engage with violent, aggressive or threatening behaviour
Leave or pause the job if any form of violent or threatening behaviour or harassment occurs
Keep a safe distance between yourself and the person(s) who is/who are demonstrating threatening, abusive or violent behaviour
Avoid splitting up from your coworker when moving between the truck and the property, if the danger is external
Man With a Van Responsibilities:
Maintain and update policies and procedures related to violence in the workplace
Check in with movers throughout the job if concern was raised regarding threatening behaviour
Conduct follow up meetings, following the Traumatic Response Policy and/or engaging in Workcover, to ensure movers are recovering from the incident
If the violence occurred from an employee of Man With a Van, management will ensure that the rights steps are taken for disciplinary action
