Injury Policy
Make sure you tell your fellow mover if you've been injured. You should also call the office straight away so that we can help work out what to do next.
Please see this page for details on Man With A Van's Return to Work obligations.
1. The first port of call is to discuss your injury with a manager. Where possible, this should be with Matt Windsor who is the Return To Work coordinator.
2. You need to complete an injury report located at ohs.manwithavan.com.au. This should be emailed out to you, and will allow us to track your injury, return to work progress and any medical bills
3. Your next step is to, depending on the severity of the injury, see your GP. We recommend seeing a GP that you are familiar with and who will take the time to assess you properly and discuss the severity of your injury as well as what tasks you can do. You should ask that the Doctor complete a Workcover Certificate of Capacity. This certificate gives us information about what you can and what you can’t do whilst you’re injured, as well as the next date for reassessment.
4. Once you have seen a GP and have this certificate, make a time to come in and see Matt Windsor to discuss your return to work plan, as well as arranging to see any other practitioners (ie physio, osteo etc). At this meeting you and Matt should develop a Return to Work plan, usually for the following 4 weeks.
You should:
Keep all medical bills and bring them to Matt
Keep all medical certificates
Keep in regular contact with Matt regarding your return to work
5. Before you return to work from injury, you should arrange with your GP or physio to complete a work assessment to make sure you’re ready to return without the likelihood of re-injury.
Note:
For a ‘significant injury’ we will notify the insurance company within 48 hours. The decision about whether the claim is accepted or not rests wholly with the insurance provider
For a ‘significant injury’, as defined in the Act, we will also complete a WorkCover Accident Report Form and send it to the nearest WorkCover office

MWAV will keep a Register of Injuries. Staff members are requested to record all accidents and incidents that occur to staff and visitors while on the premises, and any journey accidents and incidents involving staff or customers. All incidents should be reported within 24 hours of occurrence.
