Booking Rules

Medium Truck days should ideally be booked with the first job starting at 0800, and the final job finishing at 1530. Large Truck days should have the first job starting at 0800, and the last job finishing at 1630. Extra Large Truck days should be booked starting 0800, with one full job only for the day.

Exceptions

• NO pool tables (We don’t have the specialist equipment)

• NO marble tables (our insurance won’t cover it)

• NO pianos (we recommend Lachlan Brown Piano Tuning and Moving 9580 7788)

• NO commercial/industrial fridges or freezers (we specialise in household furniture, recommend they look for an industrial moving company)

• NO shop counters (we have had difficulties many times in the past moving these with 2 movers)

• NO commercial photocopiers - only desktop copiers and printers (easily damaged, recommend they see who the manufacturer suggests to move it)

Hot tips

• We have a policy of not moving furniture over any balconies, EVEN if we have done it in the past. We have no way of assessing the safety of the balcony and railing, nor adequately controlling the risks should something go wrong. NO BALCONY MOVES. However, the movers when they arrive may assess the situation and may do it if it is safe. 

• 3BR houses and bigger need to be booked into the XL truck. Safest bet for 4BR or more is three movers and the XL, but use your judgement and the wisdom of the space calculator.

• 5x5 Ikea Expedit bookcases must be dismantled to be moved safely. 4x4 are ok.

• Moves in and out of Eureka Towers (5 Freshwater Place, Southbank) should have extra time allocated to the move - check with a colleague

• Moves in and out of Docklands apartments should also have extra time allocated - check with a colleague

• Put driving blocks in for drives over 1 hour in any direction

• Put hold blocks for late or early starts or finishes - see job booking guidelines

• Any blocks (hold spot, driving, late start etc) should have dummy job ticked

• Diesel surcharge: We charge a diesel surcharge when we travel for more than 1hr to get to a job. The surcharge is$15 per 50kms travelled. For M trucks this is one direction, for L and XL trucks it's both there and back. Use Google Maps to work out the distance, put that figure into the diesel charge section, and advise the customer.

• Customers should be advised to book lifts with their building manager. We can provide public liability insurance if needed

• Before opening up a new vehicle on a particular day, always check to see how many men we have rostered on that day

• Sunday jobs should start at a minimum the travel time after 0800. Ie if a job starts in Carlton (18 mins travel charge), the EARLIEST it can start is 0820

• Any requests by customers to be charged on invoice must be directed to a manager

• Always consider clearways during peak hours, as well as allowing enough time for traffic for both early and late jobs
